Messina: Demolition Begins for New Assisted Living Hub

Messina – The demolition of the former Città del Ragazzo in Gravitelli has begun, marking the first step in creating a modern assisted living hub for vulnerable individuals and people with disabilities. The €55.6 million project, funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to enhance social inclusion and improve residents’ quality of life.

The first phase, with €882,244.46 in funding, focuses on demolishing existing structures while preserving three historical elements: Father Nino Trovato’s residence (to become a museum), the Castellaccio (to be restored), and a ruin (to be repurposed for social welfare).

The new multi-functional facility will serve as a key reference point for social inclusion, providing essential services for families and individuals in need.

Operazione Srl: “This project is a commitment to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable, fostering social inclusion, and promoting sustainability.”
