Piloda Shipyard Srl, a fast-growing industrial company in the shipbuilding sector, is looking for a Project Manager – Naval Projects to join its Naples Business Unit.

The selected candidate, reporting directly to Technical Management, will be responsible for the integrated management of naval projects, ensuring the achievement of technical, economic and scheduling objectives, in compliance with contractual requirements and quality standards.


The role

The Project Manager will oversee naval commesse from project kick-off to final delivery, coordinating all company functions involved (engineering, procurement, production, quality and administration) within a complex and highly specialized shipyard environment.

The role requires strong leadership, technical background and contractual awareness, particularly in the management of private and military units.


Main activities

Managing project planning and control

  • Developing project plans (WBS, schedule, milestones)

  • Planning project phases: design, procurement, construction, outfitting, testing and delivery

  • Monitoring progress (SAL) and analyzing time and cost deviations

  • Managing project budget and ensuring margin control

Coordinating internal functions

  • Coordinating technical office, production, procurement/logistics, quality and administration

  • Leading progress meetings and ensuring cross-functional alignment

  • Ensuring smooth communication among stakeholders

Managing technical and contractual aspects

  • Supervising compliance with technical specifications and contractual requirements

  • Managing technical and commercial variations

  • Supporting sea trials, inspections and final acceptance

  • Handling claims, reservations, penalties and change orders

Managing suppliers and subcontractors

  • Coordinating critical supplies and outsourced activities

  • Monitoring performance and managing delays or non-conformities

  • Ensuring contractual compliance of subcontractors

Risk management and reporting

  • Identifying and assessing project risks

  • Defining and implementing mitigation plans

  • Preparing periodic reports for General Management (progress, costs, risks, forecast)

Occasional national and international travel to shipyards or client sites may be required.


Ideal profile

  • Master’s degree in Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management Engineering or related fields

  • Proven experience in project management roles within shipbuilding, refitting or complex industrial environments (experience with military/naval defense projects is considered a plus)

  • Strong knowledge of project management tools (MS Project, Primavera or equivalent)

  • Good command of English

  • Leadership, negotiation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage complexity, prioritize activities and work under deadlines
