Palazzo Cellamare / Napoli
Piloda Building is proud to have contributed to the restoration of Palazzo Cellamare, a true architectural treasure in the heart of Naples. Originally built in the early 1500s, the palace has a rich history, having hosted figures such as Torquato Tasso and served as a lazaretto during the 1656 plague.
Our restoration work focused on 32 facades that still preserve the original plaster executed by Fuga’s craftsmen in 1628. The project, which began in 2021 and was recently completed, involved consolidation of materials to improve resistance to stress and enhance cohesion. Large stucco repairs and plaster reconstructions, were carried out in order to closely resemble the original material.
Finally, after conducting color tests on the facades and rusticated base, the Superintendence approved a medium gray for the rusticated sections, light gray for the smooth plaster, and two layers of rosy hues for the faux brickwork which contributed to preserve the historical integrity of the palace while ensuring its long-term durability.
