Caserma Cascino / Cagliari

A project of great historical and architectural significance carried out by Piloda Group’s Building Division at the Caserma Cascino in Cagliari, a complex with roots dating back to the 19th century. This delicate conservation-restoration work aimed to preserve the historical and architectural value of the building while respecting legal constraints and the guidelines set by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

The "Bagno Penale" of San Bartolomeo, built in 1842, has undergone continuous transformations over the decades, transitioning from a penitentiary structure to a military facility. Our intervention covered an area of 8500 sqm, including 13 buildings, and involved structural consolidation and the restoration of valuable architectural elements.

Among the key works carried out were the restoration of the elegant vaulted ceilings with bicromic terracotta bricks, the cleaning and consolidation of original plaster, and the recovery of ancient baptismal fonts. The restoration of the chapel also included marble flooring installation and the introduction of a new electrical system.

Work on the building designated for cadet accommodations has also been completed, with new flooring, modern systems, and exterior painting. Every detail of the project has been carefully executed to respect and enhance the historical significance of the complex, preserving its authenticity for future generations.
