Piloda Building: shaping communities through Integrated Urban Plans
Bologna, Genoa, Messina, Rome and Naples – Five cities, one shared vision. Through its participation in major Integrated Urban Plans (PUI) funded under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Piloda Building is helping transform urban areas into more inclusive, sustainable and connected communities. With projects worth more than €162 million, the company combines construction expertise, heritage restoration and advanced technologies with a people-centred approach to urban regeneration.
From the redevelopment of Bologna’s former Ravone railway yard and the regeneration of historic buildings in Sampierdarena, Genoa, to the transformation of Messina’s former Città del Ragazzo into a new social inclusion hub, each project is designed to create new opportunities for communities while preserving the identity and history of the places involved.
In Rome, Piloda Building is contributing to the transformation of Santa Maria della Pietà into a centre for health, culture and community services, alongside the restoration of public libraries and cultural buildings. In Naples, the ReStart Scampia programme represents one of the city’s most significant regeneration projects, creating a new eco-district with almost 300 homes, educational facilities, public spaces, urban agriculture and community services.
Across all these projects, regeneration goes beyond the physical transformation of buildings. Social inclusion, environmental sustainability, accessibility and the recovery of cultural heritage become part of a single vision: creating places that improve quality of life, strengthen local identity and generate new opportunities for future generations.
Emanuele Di Palo, CEO of Piloda Building: “Building cities means much more than delivering construction projects. It means listening to communities and creating places that restore dignity, beauty and a sense of belonging. Our goal is to turn vulnerable areas into living, sustainable environments where people can build their future.”
